My hurricane album of choice has always been Nick Cave's Murder Ballads. Once I drove back from Orlando into one of these 'canes; the winds were picking up speed around 4AM when I hauled ass down the Turnpike, and I listened to this album the whole way. The tolls were suspended and there was almost nobody on the highway. Thunder, lightning. Very eerie.
So in honor of the hurricane, here's one of the greatest duets ever. So emblematic of goth kitsch - oversaturated, emotionally overwrought ("I kissed her goodbye, said all beauty must die, and planted a rose 'tween her teeth"), and the storyline, geez. And then it incorporates the pop queen of the world!
